Piano Tuning: More Information
Piano tuning is all about meticulous attention to detail. It requires a well-honed ear and good old fashioned patience, but when the job is done well the result is music to the ear.
A piano has over 220 spring-steel strings, which together hold about 20 tonnes of tension at concert pitch. Because of this extreme tension, the piano holds its tune better than any other stringed instrument. Each of the 220+ strings needs to be methodically adjusted, and each note must be placed carefully in relation to the next.
We make a commitment produce the highest possible standard every time we tune for a client, striving to produce lasting results in a timely manner. To achieve this we are aided by the use of modern digital technology, but governed by aural technique.
As fully trained piano technicians, we have mastered the art of aural tuning. But we find that digital technology is now so advanced that it can greatly enhance the speed and durability of a tune without compromising the final result. This fact quite naturally translates into better value for money for the piano owner, which can be quite substantial in some cases. At PianoTune, we believe in delivering quality at the best price to our clients.
