Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How often do I need to get my piano tuned?
A: Generally your piano should be tuned regularly every year. However, circumstantial considerations should be taken into account, such as how often the piano is used, what its environment is like, and how structurally stable it is. In some cases, it is necessary to tune more frequently.
Q: How old is my piano?
A: Pianos are resilient instruments and can remain in working order for many decades, even for over a century. With such a broad timeline, it can be difficult to accurately date the age of your piano. There are ways of roughly determining its age, such as its architecture, type of finish, badges etc.
The most accurate method is to cross reference the piano's serial number with factory manufacturing dates. These dates are sometimes available online, although the integrity of such information is not always solid.
You can send a request to us for your piano's age using our contact form. You will need to include the piano's make and serial number.
Q: Where is my piano's serial number?
A: The serial number is normally located beneath the top lid of the piano. When you open this lid, you may see a number printed on the frame of the piano near the tuning pins. Other pianos have their serial number stamped in the wood on the inside of the sides. If you can't find it, you can contact us for more help.
